Sometimes there are moments in which the world seems to stop spinning.
It’s as if God is trying to get you to pay attention, because that second of life is so profound.
I had three of those moments last weekend.
On Saturday, I …

Three gifts you must buy for someone

Thought I’d share with you these gifts I bought this week, because if you’re anything like me, you clam up and your brain shuts down when it is time to think of an original present. {I always think of the best Christmas gifts around St. Patrick’s Day, vow to remember them, and well, you get the picture.}

Here are my three pretty great {and economical} buys for three pretty great occassions:

——————–

3. My sister is having another baby! In about three weeks, she’ll have three little squirts under 4 years old. Brave little sister, I tell you. But then again, she has always been an overachiever. And, since she has already been through this, the girl has nearly everything a mother could possibly need. Even the wardrobe timing is perfect( Her first boy was born in December, this one September). But everyone should get a few new things, right?

Here’s the too-cute-for-words onesie from “The Spotted Elephant” that I will be buying today. It is a mere $11.50 + shipping, and comes in alligators, giraffes, initials, zebras, etc. Cutest ever. They even come in toddler sizes and you can customize the colors to suit the gender. The elephant’s pink spots will become green for my little nephew.

2. A friend of mine just got a big promotion. Like a BIG one. She’s a coffee addict, but since her big promotion pretty much means a salary bump large enough to afford her own Starbucks, I opted for a simple, personal gift. I know that when she opens it, she’ll perk right up.

A gift is about getting people something they normally wouldn’t think of {or splurge on} for themselves. This Harry & David Moose Munch coffee sampler is the perfect fit. At $23.90 for two 12-ounce bags, it gives her a few cups to savor, and my wallet doesn’t burst into flames. Pair it with a personalized mug if you still want to spend more.

1. For Charlie’s birthday, I bought this Laurel Denise bracelet for $28+ shipping. The unique, unisex, adjustable leather strand also comes in a ton of other sayings, all in the handwriting of the designer {my personal fave is “life whispers, listen closely”}

Charlie recently told me that he has been wearing a rubber band on his wrist. I didn’t ask why, but thought this would be a better alternative. I mean, seriously… a rubber band? Charlie is very macho and intuitive, so the simplicity of the leather and the “Om” inscription suits him. The quest for peace isn’t an easy one. No one has the answers, but the journey strengthens our resolve in time. I hope this gift will inspire him to continue his quest to find his place in the world while encouraging him to unite his mind, body and spirit and soak up the beauty that surrounds him in nature.

P.S. I’m not a real Buddhist, I just play one on TV.
